Description

13HRP – 0124 – Spaghetti Syndrome is a rare progressive vascular disorder that primarily affects the reptilian inhabitants of the desert nation of Ecna. The condition slowly transforms the body’s circulatory system into long, spaghetti-like organic strands, drastically reducing blood circulation and placing extreme stress on every major organ.

Although the disorder appears uncommon today, historical records show that Spaghetti Syndrome once spread throughout large regions of Ecna and caused one of the greatest medical crises in the civilisation’s history.

Early Symptoms

The earliest signs generally appear between 13 and 26 years of age.

Patients initially experience repeated involuntary muscle spasms, which people in Ecna commonly call Niko Nii Fits. These episodes may last for several hours and gradually become more frequent as the disease progresses.

As circulation deteriorates, victims suffer increasing fatigue, weakness, joint pain, and difficulty performing physically demanding tasks. Veins beneath the skin slowly thicken into pale, flexible strands that resemble cooked spaghetti.

Medical examinations confirm that the transformation affects the vascular system rather than the muscles or nervous system.

Disease Progression

Without treatment, Spaghetti Syndrome continues to advance throughout the patient’s life.

The reptilian people of Ecna normally live between 200 and 250 years. However, individuals with the syndrome rarely survive beyond 30 years of age if symptoms begin during adolescence.

When the disease develops later in life, survival time generally decreases by approximately 15 years from the age at which symptoms first appear.

Although doctors cannot currently reverse the progression, early diagnosis significantly improves long-term survival.

Treatment

Modern healers within Ecna have developed methods that slow the progression of the disorder.

They combine specialised herbal medicines with mineral-rich water drawn from deep underground aquifers beneath the desert. While these therapies cannot cure the disease, they help preserve circulation and reduce the frequency of muscular spasms.

Young patients often continue apprenticeships and contribute to their communities while they receive lifelong treatment under medical supervision.

Cultural Impact

Spaghetti Syndrome has profoundly shaped the history of Ecna.

During the height of the pandemic, thousands of families lost children and young adults long before they reached maturity. Communities built entire villages to care for those living with the condition, while healers devoted generations of research to slowing its progression.

Today, people treat surviving patients with compassion rather than fear, and researchers continue to prioritise the study of the syndrome as one of Ecna’s highest medical concerns.

Historical Origins

The true origin of Spaghetti Syndrome remains unknown.

Several competing theories continue to circulate throughout Ecna.

Some historians believe the disease is an ancient genetic disorder that has existed since the earliest reptilian settlements.

Others claim it began after a condemned scholar performed forbidden biological experiments before execution within a deep desert pit.

A third and far more controversial legend suggests that the pit acted as a forgotten gateway connected to the Anti Void, allowing an unknown influence to spread into the surrounding population. Researchers remain sceptical of this explanation, noting that the pit extends only approximately fifty feet below the surface and that no physical evidence supports the claim.

Research Notes

Despite centuries of study, researchers have not discovered a permanent cure.

The Hollow Reality Project continues to collaborate with Ecna’s medical researchers in the hope of understanding the biological mechanisms behind the disease. Whether Spaghetti Syndrome represents a naturally occurring disorder or the result of an ancient anomaly remains one of the civilisation’s greatest unanswered medical mysteries.
