Classification: Material – Non-conductive metal mix
Known names: Auric Rust, Gold of the Quiet Mines, Mirrorworld Iron

Rusty Gold is one of the most common metals found inside the Mirror World, but its nature breaks normal science. Though it looks like dull gold, the metal does not carry electricity or magnetism—it rejects both as if denying the rules of matter. Tests to push current through even tiny strands only make it warm slightly, leaving behind a faint smell of ozone and a quiet hum of static.

Under a microscope, Rusty Gold seems to move, expanding and shrinking as if it breathes. When sealed inside small spaces, it slowly grows thin crystal threads that look like veins. Over time, these merge with nearby surfaces and can change the weight and strength of other metals. As a result, they stop conducting electricity, causing nearby machines to fail.

Origin and Properties

Scientists at Site 11-B (Furnace Cradle) found that Rusty Gold does not form from normal geology but from metal that holds memories of pain. Strong heat, sorrow, or long exposure to reflections—whether from mirrors or emotion—cause common metals to turn into this strange form.

Handling Effects

When touched, the metal feels faintly warm and leaves behind mirror dust—tiny golden specks that bend light back into the eyes of the person looking at it. People who hold it say they hear faint sounds, like coins falling upward.

Link to the Warding Star

The Warding Star (13HRP – 0117) may have once rested inside a Rusty Gold frame during its containment. Because this alloy absorbs memories, it might have trapped traces of ancient starlight within its surface. Therefore, Rusty Gold might not be lifeless—it could simply be sleeping.
