Classification: Prototype Temporal Device

Primary Description

13HRP – 0119, designated The Hollow Cam, is an experimental recording device that Leonardo Xesi built during the early 19th century. Unlike conventional cameras, The Hollow Cam does not rely on film, light, or electricity. Instead, it uses a crystalline aperture composed of Rusty Gold and Mirror Iron, arranged in a tri-layer spiral lens that absorbs temporal residue rather than visible photons.

The device resembles a box-shaped early camera, but its inner workings shift and hum softly, as though breathing. Internal inspection reveals that every component mirrors itself internally—screws, gears, even dust—suggesting the entire machine is an inverted object that exists half in the physical world and half in its own reflection.

When activated, The Hollow Cam does not photograph the present—it records what reality intends to show next.

Anomalous Properties

  • Captured “footage” manifests as moving reflections on nearby walls, glass, or polished metal surfaces.
  • All photographs appear one hour before the image is taken, then fade from existence exactly one hour later.
  • The camera’s shutter does not close. It blinks.
  • When placed near mirrors, The Hollow Cam produces faint VHS-style distortion, even when no tapes or screens are present.

Containment Notes

Personnel keep 13HRP – 0119 under triple-lock containment within the Temporal Anomalies Wing of the Hollow Archive.
Personnel must not stand directly in front of the device during testing.
Researchers must document all “photographs” immediately before they vanish, as repeated observation may cause reverse-time mirroring, where the observer becomes the subject of their own reflection.

If the camera begins to hum louder than a heartbeat, personnel must cease testing immediately and seal the containment chamber for 19 minutes and 1 second.

Addendum 0119-A:

During an inspection on 2025/10/08, researchers discovered that the camera’s internal mirror contained a faint video distortion matching 13HRP – 0118 – VHS Tape from 1901.
This discovery indicates that both artifacts share a recursive origin, potentially forming part of a single self-recording loop in which The Hollow Cam films the very tape it will one day produce.
