13HRP – 0118 – VHS Tape from 1901
Primary Description
13HRP – 0118, called VHS Tape from 1901, is a magnetic tape that Leonardo Xesi reportedly created. Xesi invented the Hollow Cam, an early machine designed to capture time’s own reflection.
Even though VHS tapes would not appear for another seventy-six years, the tape’s outer shell matches the VHS design first recorded in 1976. However, close study shows that pressed cellulose and gold dust form the surface instead of plastic.
When someone places the tape in a working device, it changes to fit the machine. The footage shows blurry Edwardian-era people walking through foggy streets without sound.
At timestamp 19:01, the scene suddenly rewinds and plays again, but the figures now display the faces of anyone watching in the room.
Each viewing causes small changes in the recording. Timestamps shift, objects appear in new places, and the words “recording pending” sometimes appear in the upper-right corner, as if the tape is recording future events.
Classification: Temporal Artifact
Anomalous Properties
- The magnetic tape repairs itself after someone cuts or burns it.
- Any attempt to make a digital copy creates damaged files that contain hours from the viewer’s life that no one recorded.
- The tape emits low-frequency sound patterns that match the Hollow Cam’s tuning tone, even though the tape contains no soundtrack.
- If playback continues past 19 minutes and 1 second, devices begin to record footage from inside the viewer’s reflection, even when no mirrors are nearby.
Containment Notes
Personnel keep 13HRP-0118 in a sealed anti-static storage box lined with a non-conductive iron alloy.
Only personnel approved for Hollow Temporal Studies may test the tape.
Personnel must not play the tape more than three times per month to avoid worsening temporal desynchronization effects.
Staff must isolate and examine any personnel who report déjà vu lasting longer than 19 minutes for signs of Mirror Echo Exposure.

Personnel found a handwritten note on old paper beside the tape:
“If you see yourself blink on screen before you blink in truth—stop watching.”
