13HRP – 0098 – The Cat Lady
Object Class: Orange–Crimson Tier — Anthropoid Anomaly / Pursuer
Alternate Names: “Mistress of Strays,” “The Alley Runner,” “Night Whiskers”
Description
13HRP-0098, designated The Cat Lady, is a humanoid entity most often sighted in abandoned urban districts of the Mirror World. The Cat Lady resembles an elderly woman dressed in tattered layers of coats, her hair long and disheveled, with glowing yellow eyes that reflect like a cat’s in the dark. In addition, the Cat Lady carries a scent of smoke and dust that lingers long after she passes. Moreover, reports suggest the Cat Lady often appears during periods of heavy fog, making her approach difficult to detect until it is too late.
The Cat Lady always produces the faint sound of claws scratching on pavement, though no cats ever appear. Witnesses also describe the Cat Lady’s gait as uneven — part shuffle, part sprint — allowing her to move at unnatural speeds. Consequently, those who try to flee often fail, as her pursuit escalates without warning.
Behavior
- Pursuit: The Cat Lady emerges at night, chasing down trespassers who enter restricted streets. Victims often report hearing a chorus of meows behind them as she approaches. Furthermore, these sounds grow louder the longer one remains in the Cat Lady’s hunting grounds.
- Capture: When the Cat Lady catches a target, she does not physically harm them but forces them to wear a collar inscribed with an unknown sigil. As a result, those collared vanish within 24 hours, leaving no physical remains.
- Auditory Distortion: Areas the Cat Lady crosses fill with the echo of purring and growling, often mistaken for entire packs of cats. Additionally, these noises cause severe disorientation, leading some to run in circles until exhaustion.
- Stray Attraction: Stray cats in the Mirror World often gather silently before her arrival, staring at alleyways as if awaiting their mistress. Therefore, investigators can use this behavior as an early warning sign tied to the Cat Lady.
Containment Procedures
- Teams must seal streets marked as high-risk zones after dusk. Consequently, patrol units withdraw before sunset to avoid contact with the Cat Lady.
- No direct pursuit or engagement receives authorization, since past attempts ended in total failure. Moreover, surveillance systems frequently malfunction in her presence, further complicating containment of the Cat Lady.
- Council vaults store collars recovered from vanished victims linked to the Cat Lady. However, none stay stable for long, since they crumble to ash within weeks of recovery.
Recovery Notes
Urban explorers first reported the Cat Lady, describing how she “herded” them through alleys like a predator. In addition, they claimed entire blocks shifted direction as if forcing them into a trap. Only one explorer survived, carrying a blurred photograph showing a glowing-eyed silhouette surrounded by shadows shaped like cats. Consequently, the incident stands as one of the earliest warnings of the Cat Lady’s true predatory role.
Directive – Grand Council of Xikeony (Seal)
“For the Cat Lady hunts not for food, but for collection.”
— Grand Council of Xikeony, Edict 98.Λ
“Mark 0098 as predator cloaked in humanity. She runs with no cats, yet all are hers. Therefore, do not follow her streets. Do not wear her collar.”
