Description
13HRP-0089, known as Metal Heart, is a biomechanical organ approximately the size of a human chest cavity. Its outer shell is constructed from corroded steel plates shaped into rib-like struts. Beneath these plates, faint movement can be observed, and greasy tissues throb in time with a deep, industrial pulse-beat.
Furthermore, the rhythm emitted by the Metal Heart differs from any natural cardiac rhythm. Instead, it follows patterns identical to Mac Zurger fryer cycles and advertising jingles. Consequently, observers frequently describe 13HRP-0089 as “a heartbeat in 4/4 time, greasy and mechanical.” This strange mimicry directly ties the anomaly to other known Zurger-linked entities, reinforcing the importance of the Metal Heart within the network of consumption-based anomalies.
Properties
- Auditory Pulse: Anyone within 20 meters hears the beat, even with ears covered. Moreover, exposure longer than 5 minutes causes subjects to unconsciously tap, march, or chew in rhythm with the Metal Heart.
- Physiological Effect: The heart rate of exposed subjects synchronizes with the beat. Overexposure eventually leads to arrhythmias, fainting, or compulsive chanting of Mac Zurger slogans. Thus, the Metal Heart forces human biology to obey its rhythm.
- Grease Emission: At irregular intervals, the object exudes drops of hot fryer oil from vents between its plates. Additionally, the oil never cools and always carries the scent of cooked meat, suggesting the Metal Heartgenerates endless sustenance-linked grease.
- Cognitive Link: Some subjects claim to hear voices layered beneath the rhythm — whispered orders such as “Consume,” “Serve,” or “The Heart feeds the Chain.” These suggest that 13HRP-0089 spreads memetic commands alongside its physical effects.
Containment Procedures
- The Metal Heart is suspended in an acoustic-dampening chamber lined with lead and grease-resistant tiles.

Investigators recovered 13HRP-0089, the Metal Heart, from the basement of a derelict Mac Zurger outlet during a grease flood event. A researcher remained in the chamber with the Metal Heart for 18 minutes, reportedly “entranced by the rhythm.” Soon after, the subject began striking their chest with increasing force to “match the beat.” At 21 minutes, the subject collapsed, heartbeat fully synchronized with the object’s pulse. Despite medical intervention, staff could not desynchronize it. Ultimately, the body burst into a gush of hot grease instead of blood, leaving only the Metal Heart’s beat echoing through the chamber.
