Object Class: Grey Tier — Unclassified / Inert(?) Anomaly

Alternate Names: “The Purple-Green Core,” “Artifact 88,” “The Device Without Purpose”

Description

13HRP-0088, provisionally titled Unknown Device, is an anomaly of unclear origin, function, or classification. It is small enough to be handheld (approx. 22cm in length, 9cm in width). However, its geometry shifts under observation, which prevents consistent diagrams or accurate records. Researchers have compared its shifting surface to other unstable artifacts within the Hollow Reality Project, though no direct links have been confirmed.

The Unknown Device alternates between deep violet and phosphorescent green, with veins of light pulsing in irregular rhythms. Moreover, no external seams, buttons, or ports appear on its frame. When researchers place it on a flat surface, it emits a faint hum and distorts the surrounding air, described as “heat-shimmering without heat.”

Observed Properties

  • Color Shifts: 13HRP-0088 alternates purple/green in response to living beings nearby. Consequently, observers often feel uneasy when standing close to the Unknown Device.
  • Auditory Effects: Prolonged viewing induces faint tinnitus, which escalates to distorted whispers in unknown languages. As a result, research teams keep exposure brief.
  • Spatial Interference: Objects near 13HRP-0088 sometimes double visually — one real, one slightly out of sync, fading after a few seconds. Therefore, researchers avoid placing sensitive instruments in close range.
  • Biological Effects: Test animals exposed to the Unknown Device show confusion, erratic behavior, and refusal to approach it after first contact. Furthermore, repeated exposures intensify the reaction.

Despite repeated tests, the purpose of the Unknown Device remains entirely unknown. Because of this uncertainty, debate continues over whether it acts as a tool, a relic, or a trap within the Hollow Reality Project.

Containment Procedures

  • Store 13HRP-0088 in a triple-shielded containment cube lined with neutral reflective alloys.
  • Personnel observing the Unknown Device must log all hallucinations or sensory distortions. In addition, supervisors review logs weekly for recurring patterns.
  • Council members suspended further testing until researchers confirm its function. Therefore, all requests for new trials require Council approval.

Recovery Notes

Hollow explorers recovered 13HRP-0088 during Mirror World exploration of a collapsed transit hub ██. They found the Unknown Device at the center of a room marked with concentric scorch rings, with no other artifacts nearby. Moreover, exploration logs note that multiple survey drones malfunctioned when they approached within 10 meters. As a result, all future expeditions now use remote relay protocols when entering suspected anomaly sites.

Directive – Grand Council of Xikeony (Seal)

“Until its purpose is revealed, let 13HRP-0088 remain as it is named: unknown.”
— Grand Council of Xikeony, Statement 88.Ω

“Record 0088 but declare no truth. We do not know what it is.Purple and green are not colors here — they are signals from elsewhere.”
