Description
13HRP-0080, also called the Meat Muzzle, appears to be a crude muzzle made from stretched, sinewy flesh and blackened iron bands. The Meat Muzzle fastens itself over the wearer’s mouth using rusted buckles that automatically tighten once secured. Furthermore, the surface of the organic material pulses faintly, as if alive, and it emits a wet sound whenever touched.
When applied, the Meat Muzzle initiates a rapid process of lingual erasure. The stages progress as follows:
- Phase I (0–30s): The wearer first experiences intense heat in the mouth and throat. Soon after, the tongue begins to swell unnaturally.
- Phase II (1–3m): The tongue then dissolves into blood and mucus. The Meat Muzzle absorbs the tissue, growing slightly thicker. Although the pain is overwhelming, vocalizations quickly reduce to muffled gurgles.
- Phase III (3–5m): The tongue is completely removed. The mouth cavity appears unnaturally smooth, without scar tissue or any sign of a prior organ structure.
- Aftermath: Finally, the wearer is left permanently mute, unable to produce speech. Attempts at prosthetics or grafted tongues always fail; replacement tissues dissolve within hours, as though the Meat Muzzle’s effect lingers even after removal.
Secondary Effect
In some cases, subjects also report auditory hallucinations of whispers originating from the absent tongue. Moreover, these voices frequently mock, chastise, or issue incoherent orders. Witnesses describe the phenomenon as “the tongue still speaks, but not for you.” The Meat Muzzle seems to anchor these phantom voices, binding them to the victim’s silence.
Containment Procedures
- Store the Meat Muzzle in a reinforced case lined with desiccated salt fabric to prevent biological activity.
- Always use insulated gloves during handling; direct skin contact causes the Meat Muzzle to twitch and attempt self-fastening.
- Testing remains forbidden except under Council mandate. Consequently, the current directive reads: No further silencing experiments.
Recovery Log
Investigators recovered the Meat Muzzle from the underground chapel of a cult sect known as the “Choir of Silence.” Inside, dozens of corpses were found chained to pews, each wearing a muzzle. Predictably, none possessed tongues. Furthermore, the cult’s scriptures describe the Meat Muzzle as “a gift of quiet — the removal of betrayal from the mouth.”
Incident-0080-A
During one experiment, a researcher placed the Meat Muzzle on a cadaver for analysis. Despite the corpse lacking neural activity, the tongue still dissolved. Afterwards, the Meat Muzzle whispered in the chamber for several hours. Transcripts recorded disturbing phrases, including:
