13HRP – 0345 – Crimson Egg

Classification: Biological Object / Parasitic Cycle

Description

The shell appears partly see-through and hard, marked with red cracks that resemble veins filled with blood. In addition, scans of the inside reveal shifting shapes: sometimes broken human forms, sometimes insect-like, and at times nothing at all. Therefore, results never match between scans, which adds to the unpredictability. Moreover, several scans showed repeating geometric patterns that vanished the moment observers blinked, suggesting the Egg projects false visual data.

Inside its core, thermal probes recorded heat higher than 80°C, yet surface checks showed no rise in temperature. This paradox indicates that Crimson Eggs maintain an internal ecosystem disconnected from their outer shell. Some believe this “inner world” is where the larva forms before breaking through.

Behavior

  • Activation Phase: The surface starts to beat like a pulse and leaks dark red fluid. Moreover, faint whispers in many languages echo within 10 meters. Listeners often describe the voices as personal, addressing them by name.
  • Hatching Event: The shell breaks, and a pale larva crawls out. It seeks anyone linked to 0024. As a result, the host quickly succumbs and produces more Eggs within 48 hours. Furthermore, victims describe the feeling as if their bones soften and pour out of their skin.

Discovery Log – First Hatch

While staff moved the Egg from the Lost Vas chamber, one activated on its own. The surface shook and whispered “It remembers” in several voices at once. Soon after, at 03:46, the shell split open with a sound compared to glass snapping under pressure.

A tendrilled larva crawled out, wet with secretion, and attached itself to a guard’s chest. Within minutes, strange patterns spread under the skin, matching those caused by 0024. Consequently, the guard died within two hours and released two new Crimson Eggs from the body. In addition, nearby staff reported hearing the guard’s voice from inside the new shells.

Because of this event, all surviving staff entered permanent quarantine. Furthermore, their logs show repeating dreams of eggs cracking in unison. Some described visions of standing in endless fields filled with eggs stretching to the horizon, each one whispering their name.

Hypothesis

The Egg is not just a stage but a cycle tool.

  • The Lost Vas makes Eggs.
  • Eggs hatch into larvae that bond with uniform wearers.
  • Changed wearers then create more Eggs.
  • Therefore, the cycle continues, even without the original Vas.

Some archivists claim the Egg is a “seed piece” of the Lost Vas, designed to rebuild it through scattered parts. Thus, its survival may ensure the cycle never ends. Moreover, this suggests the Crimson Egg serves as both product and architect of the cycle. Others argue the Egg functions as a failsafe, reassembling a complete Vas whenever enough fragments exist.

Containment

Do not mix the Egg with 0024 or 0030. Furthermore, containment teams keep each Crimson Egg frozen at -30°C in its own cryo-case. If any Egg activates on its own, staff must burn it right away and place all exposed workers under quarantine. In addition, regular checks confirm shell stability every 12 hours.

Personnel assigned to monitoring Crimson Eggs must undergo weekly psychological screening. Whispers have been recorded influencing staff to attempt unsanctioned experiments. To prevent breaches, guards rotate shifts every three hours, ensuring no one spends prolonged time near the Eggs.

Addendum 0345-A – Neutralization Log

Plan: The Council approved Egg 0345-7 for destruction by fire under direct watch.

Event Log:

  • 00:01 – Staff placed the Egg into Furnace 4.
  • 00:03 – Shell cracked and fluid leaked fast.
  • 00:04 – Fluid burned outside the furnace instead of inside, spreading like living fire.
  • 00:05 – The Egg broke into three fragments, all beating on their own.
  • 00:06 – Audio captured whispers in six voices: “Burning is birthing.”
  • 00:08 – Two pieces collapsed; one grew back to full size in 30 minutes.

Result: The test failed. The Egg restored itself. Moreover, whispers lingered in the block for two days after. Consequently, further fire tests were suspended.

Note:

“Fire only makes it split. Burning speeds the cycle. Do not burn without Council order. Containment is safer than harm.” — Dr. Veran

Addendum 0345-B – Secondary Testing

In another attempt, researchers tried freezing an active Egg beyond -200°C. The shell resisted the drop in temperature, and instead of cracking, it grew harder. Furthermore, frost spread across the containment chamber, forming patterns shaped like embryonic faces. Staff noted the ice hummed faintly before melting once the Egg was removed. This confirmed that extreme cold strengthens the Egg instead of neutralizing it.

Later trials exposed an Egg to vacuum conditions. After three minutes, the surface pulsed faster, and the Egg whispered “We breathe where you cannot.” It then released a thin mist that corroded steel plates before dissipating.

Council Note – 0345

After repeated failures, many requested the destruction of all Crimson Eggs. However, the Council refused. Instead, they reinforced the directive to study and observe. They argued that Crimson Eggs represent a key pillar of the cycle, and their destruction could destabilize larger anomalies.

Council of 13 Response:

“The Egg cannot be ended. It only multiplies. Every attempt at destruction makes the cycle stronger. Watch them. Hold them. Do not destroy them.”

Directive: Staff must treat 13HRP – 0345 – Crimson Egg as untouchable cycle-makers. Anyone who tries to destroy one without order will face removal as compromised. Therefore, only observation and containment remain permitted. Furthermore, Council members ordered archivists to continue documenting whispers, as some may hold hidden patterns or warnings about greater cycles yet unseen.
