Object Class: Crimson Tier — Ritual Artifact / Century Seal

Alternate Names: “The Grease Seal,” “Gloves of Hunger,” “Binding Pair”

Description

13HRP-0100, designated Mittens & Lock, is a paired set of anomalous items recovered from the depths of a Mirror World Mac Zurger vault. The objects consist of:

  • Mittens: A pair of oversized gloves made from stitched yellow-red fabric resembling mascot wear. The insides contain thick, pulsing meat that stays warm and greasy to the touch. Furthermore, when worn, the mittens tighten and fuse to the user’s hands, leaving grease stains that never fade. In extended contact, the mittens whisper incomprehensible words to the wearer, often causing paranoia or cravings for raw fat.
  • Lock: A heavy padlock engraved with a distorted Mac Zurger logo. Congealed fat coats its shackle. In addition, when the user wears the mittens, the lock generates a matching chain around their wrists, binding them in place. The lock rattles in rhythmic patterns, which some Council scholars interpret as coded signals to other anomalies.

Anomalous Effects

  • Pairing: The mittens cannot exist without the lock. Consequently, if separated, both teleport back together after 13 minutes. Repeated tests showed that even when researchers placed them in different dimensions, the pairing still reasserted itself.
  • Seal Function: When engaged, the chain immobilizes the wearer and muffles their voice with the sound of sizzling grease. Moreover, witnesses consistently report the air filling with the scent of burned fat. Victims sometimes vomit oil during the process, leaving stains that seep into stone floors.
  • Grease Resonance: Long-term exposure creates a greasy shimmer in the air. Tools and equipment slip from handlers’ hands as if coated in oil, which makes containment efforts more difficult.
  • Council Notes: Some records claim that Mittens & Lock originated as a ritual “seal” to close the first hundred anomalies of the Hollow Reality Project. Therefore, the artifact binds them under one symbolic object. Additional notes speculate that the items might serve as a key to open the next century of entries, though no one has proven this theory.

Containment Procedures

  • Store Mittens & Lock together inside Vault 100, sealing them within triple-greaseproof layers. Additionally, sensors monitor the vault for fluctuations in heat and grease levels. Any increase in greasy resonance triggers an immediate Council review.
  • Personnel must never wear the mittens under any circumstances. Instead, mechanical arms handle the objects at all times. If staff accidentally touch the mittens, supervisors order immediate amputation of the affected limb.
  • Keep the lock closed at all times. Guards inspect the vault hourly to confirm containment integrity. Furthermore, inspection logs must include both scent and heat readings, since visual observation often fails.

Recovery Notes

Investigators discovered Mittens & Lock at the exact moment the archive reached its hundredth entry, as though the artifact had been waiting. Soon after, researchers handled the pair and heard the phrase “One hundred meals are sealed. Grease forever.” Consequently, Council members concluded that the artifact manifested in direct response to the milestone of the archive. Later follow-up expeditions into the Mac Zurger vault revealed grease smears forming unfamiliar symbols, reinforcing the belief that the relic deliberately marks numerical thresholds.

Additional Observations

Field teams reported that when they transported the container across districts, stray animals followed, licking at the air as though drawn to the greasy aura. Moreover, archivists noticed that written notes stored near Mittens & Lock eventually absorbed stains, and the ink faded into oily blotches. Some texts even rewrote themselves with the repeated phrase “Bound in fat.”

Directive – Grand Council of Xikeony (Seal)

“The first century block is closed.”
— Grand Council of Xikeony, Edict 100.Ξ

“Mark 0100 as the lock that seals hunger. The mittens are not to be worn, the lock not to be opened. Therefore, these hundred anomalies are bound now in grease, remembered but restrained.”
