13HRP – 0068 – Pads that Bleed
Description
Entity 13HRP – 0068 – Pads that Bleed resembles ordinary cushioned floor pads used in gyms, hospitals, or schools. However, when touched, Pads that Bleed react like living tissue. Consequently, pressure from a hand, foot, or object causes them to bruise, swell, and eventually bleed a thick crimson liquid. Unlike normal blood, the substance does not clot and carries no traceable DNA.
Pads that Bleed first appeared in the abandoned Mirror World Hospital (see 13HRP – 0051) following a containment breach. They lined the walls of Corridor D-3, stacked in piles as if waiting for use. Furthermore, attempts to remove them led to incidents where the pads “screamed” at frequencies only partially audible, shattering nearby glass and causing nausea in personnel. Reports confirm Pads that Bleed resist relocation efforts.
Known Properties
- Bleeding Response: The more weight applied, the more intense the bleeding. As a result, full-body contact creates floods of blood that pool and spread far beyond expected capacity. Pads that Bleed generate larger volumes when multiple subjects step on them at once.
- Memory Imprint: Subjects stepping on the pads report vivid hallucinations of patients dying in surgical rooms or screaming from operating tables. Moreover, these hallucinations linger for days, leaving survivors shaken. The strongest visions always occur near Pads that Bleed clustered in hospital wards.
- Respiration Effect: Some pads emit faint wheezing sounds at night, as if breathing. Consequently, CO₂ levels rise slightly around them, though no respiration process is detected. Observers link this effect directly to Pads that Bleed.
- Replication: Burned or destroyed pads regrow within 13 minutes, often larger than before. Therefore, destruction proves ineffective as a control method, as Pads that Bleed always return.
Cross References
- 13HRP – 0051 (Mirror World): Origin of first discovery, showing how anomalies often cluster around breach points. Pads that Bleed appear most often near breach corridors.
- 13HRP – 0056 (Iron Cage): Pads that Bleed have been seen installed as cushioning in Iron Cage interiors, where they feed off the trapped subject’s fear. Consequently, this shows a parasitic adaptation to confinement.
- 13HRP – 0004 (Johnny): Johnny allegedly laughed upon seeing Pads that Bleed, calling them “training mats for broken minds.” His reaction suggests prior familiarity.
Encounter Log 68-A
Location: Mirror World Hospital, Ward B-9.
Team: Operatives [REDACTED].
[00:03] – First pad stepped on. Minor blood release, pooling under boots.
[00:05] – Operative V. reports hearing voices: “Help me up, doctor.” As a result, morale begins to drop. Pads that Bleed trigger further distress.
[00:07] – Operative T. places hand on pad. Entire pad convulses and a scream echoes. Pads that Bleed respond by releasing blood at high rate.
[00:09] – Team retreats. Blood covers corridor floor, spreading faster than physically possible. Furthermore, equipment malfunctions as the liquid seeps into circuits.
[00:12] – Pads line corridor walls, dripping blood without contact. Consequently, team extraction is ordered.
Final Notes
Containment remains impossible. Pads that Bleed spread wherever stress, injury, or confinement rituals occur, suggesting they are parasitic manifestations of suffering. Therefore, personnel are ordered to avoid use of gyms or padded rooms within Mirror World zones.
