13HRP – 0057 – Rubber Ducky
Description
Entity 13HRP – 0057 – Rubber Ducky appears identical to a mass-produced yellow bath toy. However, closer inspection quickly reveals several irregularities. Its surface feels warm and pulses faintly like living skin, while its painted eyes reflect distorted versions of observers’ faces. Furthermore, when squeezed, the duck produces not a squeak but sounds described as muffled screams, infant laughter, or warped echoes of the observer’s own voice. As a result, even casual handling often unsettles those nearby, especially when repeated interactions intensify the effects.
Properties
- Auditory Distortion: When pressed, the duck generates sounds unique to each witness. For instance, some hear the voices of deceased relatives, while others hear garbled speech repeating phrases such as “bath time never ends” or “the water remembers.” Consequently, these auditory distortions grow stronger with each activation.
- Water Resonance: Placing the duck in water creates ripples that defy physical logic. Instead of aligning with natural motion, the ripples form concentric runes resembling those recorded in the Book of Dead Gods (13HRP – 0000). Therefore, prolonged observation risks cognitive contamination.
- Size Flux: In low light, the duck gradually increases in size. Recorded cases grew beyond three meters, filling bathtubs or hospital sinks. When light returned, the Rubber Ducky shrank back to its standard size. Nevertheless, wet floors and faint feathers remained as unsettling evidence.
- Compulsion Effect: Children and unstable adults demonstrate extreme attachment. They refuse to release the duck, and forced separation causes violent outbursts or dissociation. In rare incidents, individuals submerged themselves fully in bathtubs, insisting “the duck said I could stay under.”
Behavior
Although usually inert, the Rubber Ducky occasionally turns its head to follow observers. No mechanical explanation exists for this movement. Moreover, when placed near mirrors (see 13HRP – 0051 – Mirror World), its reflection alters dramatically. In mirrors, the duck reveals rows of teeth instead of a beak, with gums dripping water. Consequently, this reflection persists even when the duck itself remains still, raising questions about its true nature.
Containment Protocols
- Entity 0057 must remain sealed in a reinforced tank, half-filled with distilled water.
- Personnel under the age of 18 cannot interact with the object.
- Direct squeezing is prohibited outside approved testing.
- Audio logs require review by two analysts before archiving, since Rubber Ducky sounds often contain memetic hazards.
Cross References
- 13HRP – 0051 – Mirror World: Reflection anomalies connect directly to duck observation, reinforcing its role within Mirror World systems.
- 13HRP – 0056 – Iron Cage: Survivors of Rubber Ducky exposure later reported dream-states inside the Iron Cage. Consequently, researchers suspect a shared perception loop.
- 13HRP – 0005 – Bella the Dolly: Entities appear to recognize one another. When placed together, Bella turned her head toward the Rubber Ducky and stared for thirteen hours without moving.
- 13HRP – 0023 – Spine Tapper: A test linking the duck’s water ripples with Spine Tapper’s resonance frequencies produced catastrophic distortions. Therefore, the experiment was terminated immediately.
Incident Report 57-B Filed ██/██/████, Site ██.
During routine observation, researchers left the Rubber Ducky in the children’s ward of Mirror World Hospital. Within six hours, all five patients began humming in unison, recreating the duck’s distorted squeak. Surveillance then captured the toy floating around the room unaided, leaving water trails after each pass. At 02:13, every patient submerged themselves in bedpans and sinks simultaneously. Only one survived, later stating: “The duck is the plug. We’re all just the drain.” Soon after, they fell into a non-responsive state and have not recovered.
Assessment
Entity 0057 – Rubber Ducky looks harmless, yet prolonged contact proves catastrophic. Analysts therefore conclude it serves as a symbolic “anchor toy” within the ecology of the Mirror World. Moreover, it functions not only as bait for innocence but also as a catalyst that transforms comfort into decay.
